I finally made it down from Kentucky with a dual purpose trip in mind (my Wedding / fishing trip). Lol.
With the wedding plans incomplete I didn't make it out on the water Monday or Tuesday, but Wednesday was a bit more relaxed and I decided to try Levy Bay at the morning high tide and fish the outgoing.
I was unloading my yak when I noticed someone with a boat waiting to launch. It was Capt. Don Porter. I had met him at the same ramp two years ago. He is a super nice fellow. He gave me some advice as to where I would find a few Reds and we talked a few before I paddled right of the ramp toward the spot he mentioned. I decided to try a few spots I had hooked up before along the way and I had cast about 4 or 5 times before I felt that train wreck on the end of my line. I remember why I love redfish so much!!!. My first of the year was 23 inches of bass on steroids. Lol.
I hadn't made it halfway to the spot I was headed when lightning struck the second time. A 23 inch twin to the one I had just caught. Both liked the gold aqua dream spoon.
With my limit on the yak, I decided to switch to a new penny gulp under a C.T. popping cork and try to put a flounder in the cooler. The only attention I attracted was sharks. Small blacktip kept cutting me off. I decided to head back to the hill and call my first time on the salt this year a success.

That's a good way to start your salt water year. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials too.
