1st red fish
Took my 8 year old grandson fishing today for the first time this year. Put canoe in about 9 a.m. on the out going tide at lighthouse ramp. Didn't expect to mush other than a beautiful day together. Paddled out into a south wind to fish mouth of east river, letting wind blow us right back to the truck when done. After about a hour of nothing I caught a short red on a shrimp. Another hour past and the 8 year old was getting impatient. Want to go chase crabs on the back. No sooner got that out of his mouth and his poll bent to another fish. Keeper red that we lost at the boat, another one after that. To small. Ten minutes or so another bite. 18'' Trout. Ask if he still wanted to play on the bank. Off course not. Then the fun really started. His shrimp no sooner hit the water and he has a 25'' red on the end off his Wal-Mart rod. I thought the fish was going to pull him out of the boat. Finally I pulled the fish in the boat and we just sat there and laughed. We caught one more Spanish mackerel after that and then they quit. We no sooner blue back to the boat ramp and the wind turned the water to white capes. I think God was watching. What a day.
