This was my first kayak fishing trip ever with my new to me Native Slayer 12. I launched at the sandy ramp onto Hwy 98. The wind was a bit of a challenge but I paddled up towards the cut stopping every once in a whIle trying gulp on a jig head, top water and suspending twitch baits.
At about 3pm, halfway back to the ramp in about 6ft of water I got my only hit of the day, a fat 24 inch trout! I caught her on a live bait 3.5 inch mullet suspending twitch baits worked erratically - she hit right after a pause.
It was a great first day in the yak! I really just wanted to get comfortable padding and moving around and catching a nice fish was a bonus!
I will try to post a picture later.

Sounds like a great time! When it's windy like that, drive on around to alligator point and access the bay on " sun and sand" road. Fun stuff!!!!
Thanks for the report.
