Spent the day pedaling around Levy Bay. Not much action during the morning or early afternoon; tried topwater, gold spoons, jigs and weedless gulps without any luck. There were a few strikes but nothing hooked. Frustrated I was going to head home but then the tide started falling and the topwater bite lit up! First hookup I had a large slot red all the way to the kayak after a long fight and just as I was reaching for the net the fluorocarbon snapped right in the middle (must have been nicked up)! I was so pissed. Decided to rig another up and from then on almost every cast I pulled in a red; 50% or more were in the slot (biggest was 23") with the remaining being around 15"-17". If anybody catches a nice slot red with a bone one-knocker in its lip it's mine, not fishbaitbilly's.

Good job with waiting them out! It's funny how they can just turn on or off.
Expatriate Floridian living in the "Land of the Ice and Snow" that is Atlanta.
