Fenholloway River - 9-1-2018

The Gulf has been really churned up for quite a while. Visibility has been about a foot. I hadn't been to my Fenholloway creeks since the spring and wanted to see where fish were holding. The dirt road to the launch was very treacherous unless you have 4-wheel drive, I would not attempt fording the water. Some deep holes as well. Water was over the road in several places.

I tried up in the creeks to humor myself. No bites, but fish on the sonar in the deep holes. Went out about a mile from shore. Nothing. Ended up working the mouths of creeks and points halfway to Big Spring Creek. Ended up with 5 reds (3 were dinks), 1 bluefish, 2 large sailcats and 1 hardhead cat. Not a lot, but considering the conditions, I can't complain.

The 1 river here that I've never caught a fish out of. Good job.

I use the river as a launch point to get to creeks east and west of the mouth at the Gulf. We have caught decent trout (up to 23 inches) in the mouth of the river depending on the time of year. I would not keep any of those fish for eating purposes.
