Surf fishing St. George

Post by bigboots »

Got to the park early Friday morning. Gate still not working and lots of cleanup and repairs still to be done there. got set up and lines in the water by 8. Surf and wind were up for a while dying down as the day went on. Used shrimp and sand flea fishbites which turned out to be the bait they wanted. Caught 4 pompano ,1 small shark, and some whiting. After lunch hit the bridge for a while since that's Melanies favorite way to fish. Not much luck there but saw other folks catch flounder, spanish and trout. Nice to get away and catch fish ,though not as much fun as kayak fishing. As we left the bridge about dark 2 guys fishing in kayaks were taking pictures of a nice red.

Pompano are good eating. Thanks for that report. Take pictures of the gate area next time.
