EP BAITFISH PATTERN

Post by bk »

Just picked up some EP Fibers, watched a youtube video on how to do it, and whipped up my first attempts at an EP Baitfish Pattern. If you're interested in tying these, check out enrico puglisi's web site. he has a 30 minute free video on how to tie his "peanut butter" pattern.

1/0 hook and assorted EP.

Thinning shears? Looks good, just a bit material heavy.

yeah i noticed that enrico mentioned that the tendency for first time tiers of his patterns was to use too material. I'll surely thin it out on the next attempt. Interesting material, the EP. Have you had much success with these Bearsfan? Do they hold up over time?

If you are getting a funny action out of yours you may want to change out the eyes for solid plastic doll eyes. I will bump the ep tutorial I posted for you guys last summer.

I have used EP patterns successfully on snook, jacks, trout etc in the Everglades and for striped bass up in New England. They work great but tend to tangle after a few fish. You can comb them out and they come right back but it is hard to get the fibers lying right with just your hands.
