I use to think that an 8 wt was too heavy in Dr. Allees rainbow pond. The past couple years he has put bigger fish in. Most are bigger than 2lbs and I have heard that some go between 5 and 10lbs though i haven't had that pleasure yet. The feeders are going off now so the fish can be persuaded to take top water flies at times. As you can see in the video, it was rainy/overcast conditions which are ideal for catching more fish though you will also catch fish on blue bird days. Great winter time fun!

According to my research an average 23" rainbow weighs around 8lbs.
If that is true, I stuck an 8lb'er last week...

Where is that place at? I've heard about it and I know its a pay pond but, I would like to give it a try with my wife and I. Thank you.
Little boys and girls ask for just one more cast, I ask for a lantern.

I just want to remind you fly fishers that the pond close in March when I will turn my attention to other species
I went Went back out this week and caught several nice fish most of them cookie cutter 20 inchers. My advice is to throw sinking flies to the aerators and let them sink way down before stripping them in. You wont be disappointed.
