St Marks NWR - 7 Dec 2015

Post by Moore Lyon and Quick »

Been fishing the oyster bars off the lighthouse lately and have had good luck with the trout. Went out yesterday from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM and got 19, one was short, 4 right on the mark or close to it and the rest solid mid-slots with a few 18's and 19's. Nothing big, and no redfish, but still a fun day. Had a little topwater action early with a gartside gurgler but most fish came on an olive/chartruse/white clouser fished on an intermediate line.Thanksgiving week I went twice, getting 15 trout and a red one day and 13 trout the other. Hopefully It will last a while longer before the flats shut down.

Wow! Great report. I love to fish the bars around the lighthouse, especially the East River toward Pelican Point. That's a lot of fish on a buggy whip. Wish I could do that!
