I am the one who suggested that the perfection loop is weak compared to other loop knots so I feel compelled to elaborate on my point. The perfection loop may be fine for tarpon leaders and use with heavy tippet material. However, I have found it to be weak compared to other knots when using light leader material. I have had perfection loops break when tied into 2x or lighter material. I never have that problem with the rapala knot I mentioned in an earlier post. If others have no problem with the perfection loop, by all means, keep using it.

Well, I took her out to East Rivere for a little play time. (Had to go to St. Marks to do some work on the big boat in anticipation of an offshore trip this Friday) I'm still new to yakkin' and I haven't worked a buggy whip in 20+ yrs ( 'cept for a bit of flailin' around at RC) I can't report any catches, but she casts like a dream. Fast and strong. Still havin' a bit of trouble settin' up the yak for good acsting positions (it's even tougher with a buggy whip)! I was too busy playing with the whip to do a good report - but I saw porpoises, a 7' shark (right next to the yak - touchable), manatee, alligators and more, but alas no bites!

Interesting, all the trout guides I know use a perfection.
Moving on, sounds like a good trip. Next time try snagging the chark.
