Bottoms Road 6/2/19

Post by DKWakulla »

Put in at the butt-crack of dawn, and it was flat calm. Fished over to fiddler's point where there were huge schools of bait and 4 kayaks sitting on top of them. I set up a few hundred yards further out in the bay and fished a jig for a while to little success. I wish I had pulled out the one knocker sooner. As soon as I did I'm getting explosions, hung a couple or three, then this guy exploded that bait the second it touched the water.

I caught a couple more slot trout then as quickly as it started, it stopped. Fished the loop between the different land masses with only a few nibbles. Waited for the tide to move again and ended up leaving about 10AM.

My shimano teramar rod had an eye ripped off during the fight, hopefully they still stand behind their warranties. Wasn't even the tip either about the 5th one down.

Good fishing, DKWakulla! The bite today at Bottoms was very good in spite of 88 degree water temps. Both clients limited out on trout and reds. A few bonus bluefish as well. All fish on top water. Glad to see you getting out there again!

What’s making it challenging? Heat, rain, wind,or fewer fish?
