I can really only speak of my intentions. I intend to get a nice 8wt fly rod...I intend to tie my own flies. I intend to catch trout and reds like yourself and noleflyfisher over on bigbendfishing.net. 8) 8)

If I must mention my experience, I've tried a couple of times on the salt from the yak with a couple of redfish and trout patterns...or at least I think they are. Nothing producing, so I quickly gave up. I've been wanting to get back into it really bad...just haven't put forth the effort in preparation and equipment. If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

I think I've seen those posts about the fly swap...I have a very meager selection to bring for such an event. Like I said, it would be nice to get some equipment to tie my own flies. Thanks for the info!

I am new to Tallahassee so I don't know the local waters but I love flyfishing and plan to fly fish around here regularly. I have a kayak though I haven't used it much yet. I tie flies and would enjoy getting in on a fly swap if it is still open. Mostly, I would really like to find some other fly anglers to join in fishing around northern Florida.

hey flyfisher, i do some flyfishing from the yak for bass and bream around tally. i've never ventured into the salt with the fly though there are some around here who do. i think that there is a tally fly club. suber, do you know? anyhow, if you'd like to hit some local ponds or lakes with the flyrods let me know.

bk,

Freshwater or saltwater, it would be great to start fly fishing around here. I travel a lot for work but anytime, I'm in town, I would enjoy getting out to fish. Weekends are always good and there are plenty of times during the week when I could get out on an afternoon. Just let me know when and where and I will try to be there. Thanks.

I need to get out there and work on my casting and presentation. Maybe doing some more freshwater fly fishing might be the trick. Let me know the next time you make a Saturday of it, bk. I'd really like to tag along. tlhflyfisher, what kind of patterns do you tie? If I really want to get serious about fly fishing, I would really like to start tying my own.

I tie just about everything except atlantic salmon flies. A clouser or wooly bugger are good fly patterns to tie when just learning. It is not nearly as hard as some people think. For bass, I love to tie rabbit strip divers. I usually tie weed guards on bass flies but not always. U fly fish using both floating and sinking lines to reach bass.

I would be glad to show anyone who is interested how to tie. I would also love to get out and start using my kayak for fly fishing around here. Any Saturday that anyone wants to get to fish, I would be pleased to join along.

i'm out of commission for the next 2 weekends but perhaps the following we could head out to some local pond/lake. i tie flies now and then, mostly foam bugs, etc. for bass/bream.

bk,

I like foam bugs because they keep floating no matter how many fish hit them or how long you fish them. My deer hair contraptions eventually get water logged and stop floating.

Look forward to meeting up at one of these local lakes in a couple of weeks or so.

This sounds like a plan to me. I just need to get my hands on some more flies in the meantime to expand my "awesome" collection
