Has anybody chased tarpon on a fly down there? I saw about six roll this year down y'alls way. If so what do you do?

Most of the tarpon are gone from this area by now. The tarpon action is usually pretty decent here between may and august. I haven't thrown the fly at em yet, perhaps next year. Some of them get pretty large over here so a 10wt would probably be a good call.

Re: Might want a 10#
I know a little bit about tarpon fishing and 90% of my salt water fishing experience comes from fishing around Port St. Joe in July and August. It has been my understanding that as they migrate up the coast following a basic ribbon of water temp, they will move into bays and estruaries to feed.
Has anybody hooked one down that way? It seems to me that it can get pretty good around the tip of Cape San Blas all the way down to Eagle Harbor within St. Joe Bay. I know that I saw two last year around pompano point. I know that Carabelle is known around here for its tarpon.
Once hooked up is there a method for anchoring and trying to slow your boat ride? Im guessing it would be much better to slide an anchor out instead of staking out.

Thats sick! I hope I get that lucky. After getting to see them rolling up close a couple of years ago they have become a complete obsession. Gives me the tingles.
