decided to try out some of the new flies tied during this wonderful weather of late. Hit the freshwater with my trusty 7'-6" long, tfo lefty k ticrx and a handful of my recent flies. the most productive were the "san juan worm" in white. tied with a bead head and about 2" white, ultra chenille on a #8 2xl dry fly hook.
also productive was one of the new pencil poppers with mylar tube finish. Though not a good time of year for topwater poppers, i felt the need to try it. had moderate success.
can't wait for things to warm up a bit.

It must have been warmer where you were . The new popper looks like it will be the ticket when the fish move back up in the column. Keep up the good work.

if i want a faster sink, i add a bead head behind the hook eye. i aslo cut the chenille off so it doesn't extend past the front. this helps to reduce the amount of line fouls around the material.
