For BK

This is a step by step I did a (long) while back. This is my go to fly. Catches everything that swims, literally. Permit is about the only thing missing from the list. Enjoy!

1. Wrap thread even with hook point.

2. Tie in rabbit strip, non-cross cut. Trim it to about an inch and a half. I go from tip of index finger to first nuckle.

3.Tie in second strip "upside down" to allow for easy wrapping.

4. Give it two or three wraps, stroking the hair back as you go. Throw in some lead eyes where the rabbit ends. This is the step to add flash if you want it. I don't use it because I throw these for tarpon and it usually puts them off. Also, this is where I add wood duck flanks in the configuration I currently tie.

5. First clump of deer or elk hair goes behind the eyes. Push it back and tie in a smaller clump just in front of them. Let the 2nd clump go around the hook for a rounder head shape. Keep it on top for a sharply angled nose.

7. After you have trimmed the head to your liking be sure to de-barb then push the hook through the tail piece of rabbit, or vice-versa.

New variation using flanks from woodies I harvested. "Using the whole buffalo." This is what the one I fish now looks like.

Very Nice. I think I have none of the stuff though. Rabbit definitely needs to go on the list.

Thanks for sharing.

In the pic, an sc15. Since then I have been using either an AKI or Mustad C47S D.
