looks like a cool fly to add to the list. a bit pricey though. any thoughts, greg, on how it's made?

I see the head shape, head angle, worm rattle angle, lead wire and the kind of weird (high) angle of the floating tail materials to all potentially contribute to the action of this fly here. As I understand it, to walk a lure you need the lure to rock up on the tug and drop back down on the slack. The pull will always head the fly to the fisherperson, the slack must be unstable and slide off to the side during the fall back into the water. The rattle here would be able to change the center of gravity of the fly the most ( probably leans forward on the slack and pivots towards the back on the tug - either level or slightly tilted so that the beads roll to the very back of the rattle. The face of the head would also be key on the slack - mostly out of the water on the tug and dramatically plunge into the water as soon as there is slack. The placement of the lead wire will affect the resting position of the fly and maybe help trim out any variation fly to fly. It would be easiest to recreate with a sample and a molding kit from Hobby Lobby. Kind of waste for 12 bones though - let me know when you buy your first dozen BK.

Some boards suggest this is similar fly sutiable for smaller versions. And the materials are all available. Look simial but the action seems less pronounced in the video.

well without any of the materials on the list i decided to improvise. hopefully i may water test it between the seemingly on going feeder bands of late.

it aint pretty, just a prototype of sorts. greg, i think you're dead on about the rear weighted design and the tug and drop process. Like traditional walk-the-dog action lures, the angler and retrieve technique will probably make a big difference in whether or not it'll walk, burb, or just do nothing. i wrapped a bit of wire on the shank around the bend of a #1 hook before tying on a good bit of heavy marabou and flash tail. It should sit ass down in the water. The head was modified via sanding a large popper blank.

Was told by my uncle that this worked really well for him. He spends the winter in sw fl and is a big fly guy. He took a weeklong beating from a buddy that used one. After trying one himself he went out and ordered 1/2 doz in each size in every colour. Took a bit to get the hang of it but now he just loves it.
