fly fishing the front pond this evening went as usual.
a dozen small bass, quite a few crappie, and a bream thrown in for good measure.
however, today i'm catching a fish, get it to the yak and notice that it's not one of the 3 species that i have known to live in this pond.
mind you, i have fished it for 6 or 7 years now and doubt i've seen it all, but this sure made me go "hmmmm".

Not exactly shure what kind of carp that is...but cool none the less. KW pts?

i don't reckon. also, caught a mess load of decent sized spanish this morning at the coast, got home and realized no kw points for them either. bummer.

looks like a big lake shiner. You take it to Jackson and drown it.

In Texas, we called them shiners as well. Question is what is he doing hitting on your fly - I always that they were (mostly) vegetarian.

actually caught the fish on the fly you tied up and gave me greg. thanks, by the way.
side note on that fly. looked great in the water, a bit on the heavy and large side for the small fly rod.
size it down a notch and i'll take 10 of em.
