Holes in the water...

Put my first tarpon of the season in the air today. After 6 or so jumps I caught up to it to the point the leader was in the guides and the fish was gulping air. I then decided it would be a good idea to break my beautiful Scott 10wt. After hand lining the fish for about another 30 seconds I decided it was best to go ahead and let it chew through the leader. Guess I will be fishing the 12wt out of the kayak for a while.

AWESOME! Your my hero man the day I hook and land a poon on a fly...my life will be just about complete.

Ps: Buy a 360 gear mount and capture those jumps...you will become an internet sensation almost immedetly. (I would know :D )

Sorry about the rod. Nice to hear that the tarpon are around again. How was it driving through that fog on the mainland? :wink:

Ok I guess the tarpon are here - ignore my comment on other thread. Awesome to land a tarpon on fly / kayak. Real bummer on the rod. It would have been a sight to see the hookup and backing come flying off the reel.

Nice, Tarpon on the fly from a yak, next you will have to only use one hand with an 8 wt!

WOW I didnt know the Poons were up this far yet, great job. What did he eat for ya?..Sorry about the Scott but they do have a lifetime warranty!!!!!!!
