with my 3wt

I went up north for a couple weeks and only took my 3wt. If the water had not been running so fast, I would have been over gunned. Caught browns, rainbows and mostly brookies. They were in some of the most beautiful places I have seen. Learned a lot about dry fly fishing.... mostly using elk hair caddis. Most of the streams had lots of trees lining the banks so I was forced to roll cast much of the time. I was also challenged by the fast currents...trying to get the longest drag free float of my flies possible. Here are a few pics from the trip.

Something BK commented on reminded me of how special it was to be alone in the woods. One of the pools I fished was a 15 minute hike from the road. I was alone and the sound of the water coming down the fall was deafening. You couldnt have heard someone or thing even if it was right behind you. At first it scared me a little and then I recalled the book and movie "Lost in the Wild" and pretended I was that crazy young man that feared nothing in the wild. That lasted about thirty minutes and a couple bookies before I realized I probably needed to go. I was so impressed with this spot that I brought Cindy back the next day to see this magic place. We weren't there 5 minutes when she noticed the bear paw prints in the pic above. It only took us 30 seconds to decide it was time to head back. Still, very cool experience.
