sidelined temporarily with lower back pain, i decided to whip up some flies to fill the request of a good friend.
standard spiders and ants
modified bk popn crease (added legs to the design)
and although i can hear the purists (peter) rumble at this one, i decided to try something different for the sea trout.
essentially, a curly tail from a bass worm tied on and covered with some opal estaz for the body. it'll either have great action, or the whole thing will spin like a ceiling fan.

Speedy recovery, bk. Take care of that back. Replacements are hard to come by.

Like the look of those flies. Don't like that you are laid up a bit. Maybe trout like ceiling fans?

You've got a great sideline there, brad! Awesome activity to do when you have to lay low. I bet those little guys will make your friend very happy. Original works of bk art!! Love em!!
The waters and lily pads and grasslines and oyster bars are just not the same without you.
Speedy recovery wishes.... hurry back, bk.

Nice flies Brad! I hope you are back in the saddle soon. I was thinking that I would trade you my ED for your back pain, but on second thought I have plenty of other rods that work.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. The massage guru says "sacroiliac" and that with a couple deep massages, some ice, and some muscle relaxers, I should be on my way.
Btw fbb, I'd like to think that ED was the reason for the back pain in the first place, but I can't remember. Beacuse between the ED, hair loss (on head), hair growth (on ears), arthritis, loss of vision, loss of hearing, eye floaters (that I swat at cause I think they're gnats), and now back pain, I can hardly remember what day of the month it is. But I can sure as heck tell you the current moon phase, tides, and if the fish will be bitin'.
Thanks again all. Tight lines.

BK, I hope you feel better soon. We miss your saltwater posts. Nice flies by the way. I still use the poppers you gave me last year

Sorry to hear about your back buddy. Here is something my former brother in law (High Tied Fly Fishing in Sarasota) ties for his Bonefishing trips to Belize.

Get well!

I bet a tarpon would eat the Sh*t out that ceiling fan fly. Hurry up and feel better so we can test my theory.

Pisser about the back pain. Nice looking flies though.
Do you use a template for the crease fly or just eyeball it?

Jt. I have a rough template that I use. Essentially, just a cut-out piece of card stock. I'd be glad to show anybody who's interested how I go about it.

Pretty nifty shrimp fly sw. U try it on a redfish yet?
Thanks for the well wish, Peter. Not sure about the whirly whig ceiling fan fly for tarpon. I'd like to see your improved version of it. Better yet, your version of it in the mouth of a poon. Go get em.
